    Rei (128717) writes As was previously reported here, the Russian government has accused the U.S. Secret Service of kidnapping the son of ultranationalist LDPR MP Valery Seleznev in the Maldives. The son, Roman Seleznev, stands accused of running one of the world’s largest carding operations, with others charged in the affair having already been convicted; however, Roman had until recently been considered out of reach in Russia.   • Alleged Russian Spy Ring Exposed In US

    Several readers sent in the story of an alleged Russian spy ring busted yesterday by the FBI after a decade-long investigation. The FBI says that Moscow trained and planted long-term “moles” in the US in order to infiltrate the upper echelons of US government and business circles and pass back intelligence to the Russians.     NBA approves sale of New Jersey Nets to a Russian billionaire, Mikhail Prokhorov. The Nets hope Prokhorov’s wealth — estimated at $9.5 billion through his banking and metals businesses — will be used to help them bounce back from a 12-70 finish that included an NBA-worst, 18-game losing streak to open the season.

  • Russian Billionaire Confirms $700M Bid for New Jersey Nets

    Russia’s richest man, Mikhail Prokhorov, has made a takeover bid for the New Jersey Nets, the tycoon confirmed on his blog on Tuesday. Prokhorov, a former nickel mining baron, boasts that if his move is successful, it would be the first time a National Basketball Association club would come under foreign control.
